Four Levies personnel lost their lives on Monday after unidentified gunmen launched a deadly attack on the Samand check post in the Nal area of Khuzdar district, a crucial point along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route.

According to official reports, the assailants fired on the check post before fleeing the scene. Authorities have identified the martyred officers as Maqbool, Khuda Bakhsh, Ejaz Ahmed, and Muhammad Ali.

The attack has raised alarm across the region, prompting law enforcement agencies to mobilize immediately and launch a search operation to apprehend those responsible.

Authorities suspect militants in parts of Balochistan, known for targeting security forces and key infrastructure projects, carried out the ambush.

A nearby hospital has received the officers’ bodies, and authorities are currently arranging their funerals. Senior officials from the Levies and local administration have strongly condemned the attack, pledging to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The Samand check post serves as a significant security point along the heavily strategic CPEC route, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in safeguarding critical infrastructure in the region.
