Three soldiers of the Frontier Corps were martyred while one sustained injuries during a clash with terrorists in Chaman district of Balochistan, security sources confirmed on Tuesday.
According to officials, armed terrorists opened fire on an FC vehicle near Molvi Salahuddin Madrasa in Chaman town. Following the attack, an FC quick response team reached the area, triggering an exchange of intense gunfire.
During the clash, five Khawarij-affiliated Afghan terrorists were killed, while three FC personnel embraced martyrdom. One injured soldier was shifted to Quetta for further medical treatment.
Sleeper Cells Active in Chaman
Security sources said the terrorists were part of a sleeper cell that had become active in the Roghani sector of Chaman after recent actions against the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in Afghanistan.
Sources added that terrorist networks were planning retaliatory attacks in Balochistan following losses suffered across the border. The Afghan Taliban had earlier issued threats of revenge, including targeting Pakistani security forces.
According to security officials, the terrorists were planning a large-scale attack and were also preparing to target civilians. The timely response by security forces prevented the plan from materializing, averting a major tragedy.
The area was cordoned off, and search operations were conducted to rule out the presence of any remaining militants.
Security officials paid tribute to the martyred Frontier Corps personnel, stating that their sacrifice would not go in vain and that operations against terrorist networks in border areas would continue.
