Protesters from the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), along with alleged relatives of those killed in the Jaffar Express train incident, managed to forcibly remove several bodies from the morgue at Civil Hospital.
The protesters demanded access to identify the remains of BLA terrorists killed in the March 11 Jaffar Express attack. While it remains unclear whether the bodies were positively identified as those of their relatives, hospital officials confirmed to Balochistan Pulse that BYC-affiliated protesters breached the morgue and took away at least five bodies.
Images and videos shared on social media captured scenes of the demonstration at the Civil Hospital, showing both men and women gathered outside. Some clips featured masked individuals removing bodies wrapped in burial shrouds and placing them into coffins.
Representatives from the BYC confirmed that their supporters had taken several bodies from the morgue, asserting that these bodies had been at the hospital for some time following the Jaffar Express incident, and BYC members had arrived to identify them. However, authorities stated that the bodies in question belonged to terrorists killed during a military operation related to the attack on the Jaffar Express.
Hospital administration clarified that the bodies removed were of the attackers who died in the aftermath of the Jaffar Express incident. The hospital received these bodies for identification but could not identify them.
Following the incident, police raided locations across Quetta and recovered at least three bodies, though they had not returned them to the Civil Hospital at the time of the latest reports. A BYC spokesperson confirmed on social media that protesters had been attempting to access the morgue for two days in order to retrieve the bodies.
Authorities eventually struggled to manage the large number of protesters, who gained access to the morgue and took the bodies. Hospital officials called the police, who were able to clear the emergency room for patients. According to a police official, the BYC members had vandalized both the morgue and the emergency center at Civil Hospital Quetta, forcibly removing the bodies of the terrorists killed during the Jaffar Express hostage crisis.
