Pakistan launched ‘Operation Bunyan Marsoos’ (Iron Wall) early Saturday in retaliation to Indian missile strikes, targeting key strategic installations, state media reported. This military action follows Indian air-to-ground missile strikes late Friday at Pakistan’s Nur Khan base in Rawalpindi, Murid base in Chakwal, and Shorkot air base. However, the Pakistani military spokesman confirmed that all Pakistan Air Force (PAF) assets remain unharmed. “By the grace of Allah Almighty, all PAF assets are safe,” said Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR), during a press conference. He further warned India of Pakistan’s firm retaliation, emphasizing, “Now just wait for our response.”
The DG ISPR also accused India of launching missiles and drones into Afghanistan, stating that India’s “arrogance” is destabilizing the region. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to fully counter any such aggression, saying, “We will not get impressed by this, and will fight with full force.”
The name of the operation, ‘Bunyan Marsoos,’ is derived from the Quran, specifically Surah Al-Saff (61:4). The Arabic term translates to “a structure firmly joined together” and alludes to the verse praising those who fight in Allah’s way as a united, fortified wall.
Verse from the Quran:
إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الَّذِينَ يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِهِ صَفًّا كَأَنَّهُم بُنْيَانٌ مَّرْصُوصٌ
Translation: “Allah indeed loves those who fight in His Way as though they are a solid wall cemented with molten lead.”
This verse underscores the resolve and unity symbolized by the operation, reflecting Pakistan’s message of resilience and strength in the face of escalating tensions.
