Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Wednesday personally met rickshaw driver Abdul Nabi Mengal after a dramatic protest on Airport Road, where the driver set his vehicle on fire over alleged mistreatment by a traffic police officer.

During the meeting in Quetta, the chief minister announced immediate financial assistance to help Mengal purchase a new rickshaw and resume work. He assured that the provincial government stands with citizens who strive to earn a livelihood with dignity.

Chief Minister Bugti made it clear that misconduct, abuse of authority, and disrespectful behavior by officials would not be tolerated. He ordered the suspension of the officer involved and directed authorities to conduct a transparent and impartial investigation into the incident.

“Police personnel are responsible for protecting citizens and treating them fairly. Any deviation from these responsibilities will face strict disciplinary action,” the chief minister said.

The incident on Airport Road drew widespread public attention and prompted an immediate response from the provincial leadership. Officials confirmed that financial aid has been approved to compensate Mengal for his loss and enable him to support his family.
