An action plan for Balochistan has been formulated, says CM Bugti

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that terrorists cannot maintain control over any part of the province for long, reinforcing the government’s commitment to peace and security.

Speaking during the 16th National Workshop Balochistan in Quetta, Bugti highlighted the importance of understanding Balochistan’s history to address its present challenges. He criticized misconceptions about the province, asserting that its reality is often misunderstood by outsiders.

Dispelling the notion that unrest in Balochistan stems from unemployment or uneven development, Sarfraz Bugti revealed plans to engage with discontented youth by addressing their grievances. “We will resolve their issues and welcome them,” he stated. However, he clarified that dialogue would not include those who violate the constitution, reinforcing the government’s firm stance. Bugti underscored that ongoing peace efforts will continue without interruption.

To strengthen regional stability, Bugti announced the implementation of a Provincial Action Plan focused on enhancing peace and security. He acknowledged the complexities of operating in high-risk areas but commended the efforts of security forces in maintaining order. “Despite challenges, terrorists cannot gain or keep control,” he said, praising law enforcement agencies for their resilience in stabilizing the region.

Addressing the issue of missing persons, the chief minister noted that new legislation has been enacted to tackle this sensitive matter. He warned that the Baloch people are being misled into a futile conflict. Bugti also highlighted progress in governance and public services, citing merit-based hiring in education and health sectors, as well as scholarship programs for local and international students.

Commenting on a recent double murder case, Bugti clarified that no marriage was involved between the deceased individuals and stated that the state has taken on the role of complainant as no relatives have come forward. He assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway and justice will be served.

Separately, the development at Quetta International Airport received international recognition as its new runway was awarded the FIDIC Asia Pacific Engineering Excellence Award. Completed at a cost of PKR 5 billion, the project has improved the airport’s capacity to accommodate larger aircraft and increased air traffic, positioning it as one of the region’s leading aviation infrastructure projects.
