Nine passengers killed in Balochistan; Bodies repatriated to Punjab

The bodies of nine passengers, who were abducted and killed in Balochistan’s Sardhaka area, were recovered early Friday and transported to their hometowns in Punjab, local officials confirmed.

Assistant Commissioner Naveed Alam reported that the incident occurred late Thursday night when BLA armed men stopped two passenger coaches traveling to Punjab. At least nine individuals were forcibly taken away in the Sur-Dakai area, which lies on the border between Balochistan’s Zhob and Loralai districts.

The incident drew strong condemnation from top leadership. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti denounced the killings and vowed that those responsible would be brought to justice under the law.

In response to the attack, authorities have significantly tightened security along all highways connecting Balochistan to other provinces. Enhanced vehicle checks are now in effect on routes linking Balochistan to Punjab and beyond, aimed at preventing further acts of violence.
