BNP-M initiates second phase of protests

The Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) has intensified its protests, launching the second phase of demonstrations in Mastung on Friday. Their primary demand is the release of Mahrang Baloch, chief organizer of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC).

Previously, the BNP-M concluded a 20-day sit-in, but they pledged to hold province-wide rallies from April 18 to May 12. The Mastung rally serves as the first large-scale protest in this new phase, with BNP-M leaders, members, and supporters gathering in the streets, holding banners and flags.

The movement has also garnered the support of leaders from JUI-F and Jamaat-i-Islami, who joined the protest and strongly condemned the arrests. They cautioned that failure to address the situation could exacerbate tensions in Balochistan. Both groups voiced their demand for the immediate release of all detained women.

Sardar Akhtar Mengal has reaffirmed his commitment to continuing the protests until their demands are fully addressed.
