From July 2 to 6, eight schoolgirls from Pakistan’s Balochistan province visited Beijing, exploring the city’s rich cultural and educational offerings. Their visit included a tour of the iconic Forbidden City, a walk through the Bird’s Nest stadium, and insightful sessions with women-led agricultural enterprises.
During their stay, the delegation visited the Beijing Vocational College of Agriculture, where they explored advanced agricultural techniques like soilless tomato and lettuce cultivation in greenhouses.
Third-year college student Chen Cheng joined the group, engaging in meaningful discussions with the visitors and showing them around. Reflecting on her experience, Chen shared, “One of the students told me how her mother’s education transformed her life. Her calm tone but powerful words truly showed that education transcends borders, fostering understanding and nurturing dreams.”
The visit was part of an initiative by the Chinese embassy in Pakistan, which has been running projects to support female students in Balochistan. These projects have provided health kits benefiting 7,000 students across 310 schools, trained 151 teachers, and significantly improved health and hygiene awareness.
Munir Ahmed, leader of the delegation and an education department official from Balochistan, highlighted how the project has encouraged more girls to remain in school, raising living standards and giving hope to the community.
Student delegate Asma Munir expressed her gratitude, saying, “Coming from Balochistan, I’ve witnessed many challenges. But now, with initiatives like this, lives are improving. This project is about hope and empowerment. I thank China for investing in our future.”
