Residents of Turbat reportedly caught an armed terrorist of the banned BLA on Jalal Road after growing frustration over extortion and terrorists activity in the area, according to reports circulating on September 13.

The incident took place on Jalal Road in Turbat, where locals reportedly confronted two terrorists. One of the terrorist was caught by residents, while his alleged accomplice managed to flee from the scene.

An SMG rifle was reportedly recovered from the detained suspect before he was handed over to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) for further investigation. Authorities are expected to determine the suspect’s identity, organisational affiliation and possible involvement in extortion or other terrorist activities.

Residents also reportedly tore apart a flag associated with the terrorists group during the incident, signalling growing local anger towards armed groups operating in the area.

The incident is significant because terrorist organisations operating in Balochistan have frequently sought to establish influence through intimidation, extortion and threats against local communities and businesses. The involvement of armed terrorists in such activities has also placed ordinary residents under pressure, particularly in areas where terrorist groups attempt to impose their authority outside the control of the state.

The reported intervention by residents in Turbat indicates that terrorists may face increasing difficulty in maintaining an environment of fear among local communities. Rather than allowing them to escape, residents reportedly intervened and subsequently handed him over to the state’s counter-terrorism authorities.

Recent security activity in the wider Makran region has also highlighted the continuing threat posed by terrorist organisations. On September 11, security forces foiled an alleged attack by Fitna al-Hindustan terrorists targeting the Deputy Commissioner Tump’s vehicle and squad; the attackers reportedly abandoned their vehicle and weapons while fleeing the area.

The Turbat incident therefore adds another dimension to the security situation in Makran, where counter-terrorism efforts are taking place alongside attempts to protect commercial activity, public infrastructure and local communities from militant intimidation.

The detained man has now been handed over to the CTD, where further investigation is expected to establish his links, activities and involvement in terrorists operations.
