The Balochistan government has declared a firm zero-tolerance policy against terrorism after security forces successfully foiled multiple coordinated attacks across the province, including in Quetta, Mastung, and Jhal Magsi.
Speaking at a press conference at the Civil Secretariat, Provincial Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau made it clear:
“No compromise will be made on peace.”
He said the government has ordered intensified, across-the-board security operations to protect citizens and restore stability, following directives from the Chief Minister.
Coordinated Attacks Thwarted Across Balochistan
According to officials, terrorists launched late-night coordinated attacks targeting multiple locations. However, swift action by security forces prevented large-scale destruction.
Media aide Babar Yousafzai confirmed that:
- Attacks in Quetta, Mastung, and Jhal Magsi were successfully repelled
- A militant was killed in Jhal Magsi
- Two attackers were arrested in injured condition
- Key targets included Splinji checkpoint and a police station
Despite the success, the violence came at a cost.
Officials confirmed that:
- 1 civilian was killed
- 11 others were injured
- An 11-year-old child lost their life, underscoring the brutality of the attacks
Authorities described the targeting of civilians, especially children, as deeply tragic and unacceptable.
Concerns Over Cross-Border Threats
The provincial government asserted that external elements, particularly India, of fueling unrest in Balochistan.
While calling Afghanistan a “brotherly country,” Langau warned that Pakistan cannot remain silent if its citizens and security personnel continue to be targeted.
He also condemned the use of women and minors in militant activities, calling it a disturbing trend.
Strict Measures, No Weapons Outside State Authority
Langau announced stricter enforcement measures, stating:
- Only the state has the authority to possess weapons
- Misuse of social media will be dealt with due to its “negative societal impact”
He added that while the government prefers to avoid large-scale operations, current conditions leave little choice.
Public Support Praised, Governance Promised
Officials credited local residents for assisting law enforcement during the attacks, calling public cooperation critical for security success.
Langau concluded by stressing that the government’s mission goes beyond counterterrorism:
“Peace, development, and governance go hand in hand. There will be no negligence.”
He reaffirmed commitments to improve education, healthcare, and basic services alongside security operations.
