Advisor to the Chief Minister on Sports and Youth Affairs, Meena Majeed Baloch, has announced major youth-focused initiatives aimed at equipping young people in Balochistan with professional skills and expanding employment opportunities both within Pakistan and abroad. Under the new program, more than 30,000 youth are expected to benefit from international job placements.
She made these remarks while addressing the inauguration ceremony of a three-day policy dialogue on “Countering Violent Extremism (CVE)”, organized by the Balochistan Home Department.
The event was attended by senior officials and key stakeholders, including DIG CTD Aitezaz Ahmed Goraya, Chief Coordination Officer CVE Dr. Dost Muhammad Bareech, Dr. Ismatullah, Israr Ahmed Madani, Iftikhar Firdous, Fahad Nabeel, and other participants from relevant sectors.
Comprehensive Youth Policy Underway
Speaking at the ceremony, Meena Majeed Baloch said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the provincial government is implementing a comprehensive youth policy focused on social and economic empowerment.
She highlighted the Youth Socio-Economic Development Program, which aims to protect young people from misinformation and baseless propaganda by promoting awareness, critical thinking, and constructive engagement.
Youth Resource Centers and Digital Opportunities
As part of the initiative, the government has established Youth Resource Centers to provide career counseling and professional guidance. In addition, digital skills training programs and the provision of laptops are enabling young people to access online employment opportunities from home.
The advisor also emphasized the importance of healthy activities, noting that the government is encouraging youth participation through organized football and cricket tournaments across the province.
Education and Social Stability
Addressing the education sector, she stated that previously non-functional institutions, often referred to as “ghost schools,” have been revived to ensure that children across Balochistan have access to education. She described education as a key pillar in preventing extremism and building long-term stability.
Officials Stress Role of Youth in Countering Extremism
DIG CTD Aitezaz Ahmed Goraya and other speakers at the dialogue praised the government’s proactive approach, emphasizing that youth engagement, dialogue, and socio-economic development are critical tools in countering violent extremism.
They stressed the need to continue such initiatives to safeguard Balochistan’s younger generation and create pathways toward peace, stability, and prosperity in the province.
