The scale of counter-terrorism operations in Balochistan has expanded significantly over the past six years, with official figures showing a sharp increase in the number of terrorists eliminated through intelligence-based operations and targeted security actions. From 63 terrorists killed in 2020 to 798 by May 2026, the data reflects the growing intensity of security operations across the province.
According to official data, 63 terrorists were killed in Balochistan during 2020 through various intelligence-based operations (IBOs) and security actions conducted across the province. Since then, security agencies have steadily increased operational pressure on militant networks, resulting in a sharp rise in terrorist casualties.
The annual tally climbed to 792 terrorists killed in 2025, reflecting the growing scale of intelligence-led operations and coordinated actions against militant groups operating in different districts of Balochistan. Security officials attribute the increase to improved intelligence gathering, enhanced coordination among law enforcement and military institutions, and a sustained campaign targeting terrorist hideouts, facilitators, and operational cells.
The trend has continued into 2026. By the end of May 2026, security forces had already neutralized 798 terrorists, surpassing the total number recorded during the entire previous year. Officials say the figures highlight the continued momentum of counter-terrorism efforts aimed at dismantling militant infrastructure and preventing attacks against civilians and security personnel.
The latest addition to the tally came on June 8, 2026, when security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Naal area of Basima district after receiving credible intelligence regarding the presence of militants associated with Fitna al-Hindustan.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), troops effectively engaged the militants during the operation, killing 14 Indian-sponsored terrorists. During the intense exchange of fire, a soldier embraced martyrdom while fighting against the militants.
Security officials described the Basima operation as part of a broader strategy aimed at disrupting Fitna al-Hindustan terrorist networks, restricting militant movement, and denying terror groups the ability to establish operational bases in remote areas of the province.
The figures indicate a substantial increase in counter-terrorism activity compared to previous years and underscore the growing reliance on intelligence-based operations as a key component of Pakistan’s security strategy in Balochistan.
Officials maintain that security forces will continue targeted operations throughout the province to strengthen law and order, eliminate terrorist threats, and ensure long-term peace and stability in the region.
