Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, said that three major terrorist attacks in Balochistan over the past four days claimed 42 lives, while security forces killed 54 militants in a series of counter-terrorism operations.
Speaking at a press conference on the security situation in Balochistan, the military spokesperson said the attackers aimed to spread fear by targeting civilians, police personnel, and security forces. He added that security forces, supported by local communities, responded with decisive operations.
Harnai (Hanna Urak) Attack
According to the DG ISPR, the first incident occurred during the night of July 4–5 in Hanna Urak, where terrorists attacked members of the local community.
He said residents resisted the assault, forcing the attackers to retreat. Four civilians were killed and six others were injured in the attack.
Mangi Dam Attack in Ziarat
The second major incident targeted a police checkpoint guarding Pumping Station No. 3 at Mangi Dam in Ziarat district.
The DG ISPR said the initial assault martyred nine police personnel, including two station house officers. Security forces subsequently launched a clearance operation in which 15 terrorists were killed.
Operations have continued in the mountains of Ziarat since July 6. During the operation, an additional 18 police personnel embraced martyrdom, bringing the total number of police personnel martyred in the incident to 27.
He said security forces have killed a total of 26 terrorists during the ongoing Ziarat operation.
Military Convoy Attacked Near Bela
The third attack took place near Bela-Winder, where terrorists ambushed a Pakistan Army convoy.
According to the DG ISPR, 11 soldiers, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), were martyred in the attack.
Security forces responded by killing 14 terrorists.
He further stated that six terrorists were killed in Kharan and another eight in Dalbandin on Wednesday, bringing the total number of terrroists killed during the recent operations to 54.
“The Objective Was to Spread Fear”
The DG ISPR said the attacks were designed to terrorize the public by targeting civilians, police, and security personnel.
He noted that the police officers martyred in Ziarat were local residents who had been protecting their own communities and tourists visiting the area.
During the press conference, the DG ISPR said that India was behind the recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan.
He further said that some attacks had been planned from Afghanistan and that the Afghan Taliban administration was providing support to terrorist groups operating against Pakistan.
He said Pakistan’s adversaries sought to undermine peace, stability, and development in Balochistan through acts of terrorism.
“Terrorists Will Be Pursued Everywhere”
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry reaffirmed that Pakistan’s position on counter-terrorism remains unchanged and that security forces would continue operations against militant networks.
He said Balochistan remains central to Pakistan’s future and that terrorist groups would not succeed in disrupting the province’s development.
According to the DG ISPR, a total of 42 people were martyred in the three attacks over the past four days, while 54 terrorists were killed in retaliatory operations conducted by security forces.
