Two police officers were martyred on Wednesday in a Balochistan terror attack when unidentified assailants opened fire on them in the Noshki district.
According to police officials, the incident occurred near the Eastern Bypass where armed men targeted police personnel on routine patrol duty. Both officers were martyred on the spot after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.
The attackers fled the scene immediately after the assault. Security forces quickly cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the culprits involved in the Balochistan terror attack.
The bodies of the martyred police officers were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Noshki for medico-legal formalities. Officials said further investigations are underway.
CTD Operation in Sibi Kills Five Terrorists
In a separate operation, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) killed five terrorists in the Sibi area of Balochistan during a targeted intelligence-based operation.
According to CTD sources, a special team raided the suspects’ hideout based on credible intelligence. The militants opened fire on security personnel, triggering an exchange of gunfire in which five terrorists were killed.
Security officials recovered a large cache of weapons and explosives from the scene. Authorities are now examining evidence to determine the group affiliation of the deceased militants involved in the ongoing wave of terrorism in Balochistan.
CTD officials confirmed that operations will continue across the province to eliminate terrorist networks and restore peace.
A day earlier, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed the armed forces’ commitment to peace and stability in the province.
Speaking at the 17th National Workshop Balochistan at the General Headquarters (GHQ), the COAS said that Balochistan is the pride of Pakistan and its people are patriotic, capable, and determined.
General Munir highlighted federal and provincial initiatives aimed at uplifting the socio-economic landscape of the province through a people-centric approach.
He stated that the people of Balochistan possess limitless economic potential and urged the youth to play their role in ensuring durable stability and progress.
The COAS also warned that Indian-sponsored Fitna-ul-Hind and Fitna-al-Khawarij are spreading anti-people propaganda and fueling violence. He reiterated that every necessary measure will be taken to eradicate terrorist proxies and restore peace in the province.
