The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan has been placed on high alert as continuous snowfall and rain affect multiple districts across the province, with emergency teams working around the clock to keep highways open and ensure public safety.
According to Director Relief Operations Mir Attaullah Mengal, PDMA teams were fully mobilized at the onset of the severe weather spell. Snow-clearing operations are being carried out day and night to prevent road closures and minimize travel disruptions.
He said timely action and coordinated efforts have helped keep major highways in Balochistan operational despite harsh weather conditions. “Ensuring uninterrupted traffic flow and protecting citizens remain our top priorities,” he added.
Government Monitoring Situation Closely
On the special directives of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, PDMA machinery and personnel have been placed on constant standby. Operations are being supervised by Director General PDMA Jahanzeb Khan, with teams actively working to secure snow-affected routes.
The DG PDMA has praised the preparedness and professional response of field staff, directing them to respond immediately to emergencies while making efficient use of available resources.

Speaking to media representatives, Attaullah Mengal said that saving lives, protecting property, and providing timely relief during extreme weather are PDMA’s foremost responsibilities.

PDMA has activated its Provincial Emergency Operations Center, which will remain functional 24/7. The center is responsible for coordination, monitoring, tracking weather impacts, and ensuring the effective management and distribution of relief resources.
Authorities are also submitting hourly situation reports to the provincial leadership as part of continuous monitoring efforts.
Previous Success in Snow Emergencies
Mengal noted that during the last major snowfall, PDMA successfully kept key highways open and rescued stranded individuals and vehicles, highlighting the authority’s readiness to handle winter emergencies.
He reaffirmed that PDMA remains in constant coordination with district administrations and is taking all possible steps to respond swiftly to any untoward situation arising from ongoing adverse weather conditions.
