A strong weather system has entered Balochistan, bringing widespread snowfall and rain to several districts, including Ziarat, Kan Mehtarzai, Chaman, Qila Abdullah, and Qila Saifullah.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), snowfall began late at night and continues intermittently, significantly affecting normal life and traffic flow on major highways.
Rescue Operations Underway on Chief Minister’s Directives
On the special instructions of Mir Sarfraz Bugti, rescue teams and heavy machinery have been dispatched to all affected areas. PDMA Director General Jahanzeb Khan confirmed that emergency operations are actively underway to ensure public safety and restore road connectivity.
Snow clearance work is ongoing on national highways, particularly in Muslim Bagh, where traffic was disrupted due to slippery conditions. PDMA teams are continuously removing accumulated snow to keep roads open and prevent accidents.
PDMA Teams Deployed Across Affected Areas
DG PDMA Jahanzeb Khan stated that PDMA personnel and machinery are currently operational in Chaman, Kan Mehtarzai, Qila Saifullah, Ziarat, and surrounding regions. He added that relief equipment and essential supplies had already been pre-positioned in potentially affected districts before the onset of snowfall.
The PDMA control room remains functional 24/7 and is in constant coordination with district administrations to respond swiftly to any emergency situation.
Weather Forecast and Public Advisory
Following the snowfall, temperatures have dropped sharply, intensifying cold conditions across northern Balochistan. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast more rain and snowfall in the next 24 hours.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution while on the roads due to ongoing adverse weather conditions.
