A 21-member delegation of students from Balochistan Residential College Othal, accompanied by six faculty members, visited Parliament House on Tuesday as part of an educational study tour, according to a statement issued by the Senate Secretariat.

Upon arrival, the delegation was received by officials of the Senate Secretariat and taken on a guided tour of the Senate of Pakistan. During a visit to the Senate Museum, Senator Asad Qasim briefed the students on the constitutional structure of the upper house, the legislative process, the Senate’s responsibilities, the system of electing members, and the role of standing committees.

Senator Asad Qasim highlighted that the Senate represents balance and harmony among the federation’s units and plays a vital role in addressing public issues at the national level. Addressing the students, he described youth as the future of the country and stressed the importance of their positive contribution to national development and democratic stability.

The delegation was also given detailed information about Pakistan’s parliamentary system, stages of legislation, and the constitutional powers of the Senate. Students watched a documentary on the history of the upper house and showed keen interest in historical photographs and sculptures of prominent national figures displayed at the museum.

Later, the students observed live proceedings in the Senate Hall, where officials briefed them on parliamentary traditions, procedural discipline, and the functioning of legislative sessions. The delegation also visited the Constitution Gallery (Gali-e-Dastoor), where they were provided an overview of Pakistan’s parliamentary history and democratic evolution.

At the conclusion of the visit, students and faculty members appreciated the Senate Secretariat’s efforts in promoting democratic values, parliamentary transparency, and institutional strengthening, describing the tour as informative and purposeful.
