Rain clouds over Quetta as rainfall returns to Balochistan after 123 days

After a prolonged dry spell of 123 days, rainfall has finally returned to Quetta and several other districts of Balochistan, bringing relief to residents but also causing damage in some areas.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), intermittent rain has been recorded in Quetta, Ziarat, Harnai, Chaman, and Musa Khel. Rainfall was also reported from Chagai, Nushki, Pishin, Washuk, Kech, and Gwadar.

The PMD said that Jiwani received 9 millimeters of rainfall, while Gwadar recorded 8 mm, Dalbandin 2 mm, and Turbat 1 mm. Authorities have also warned that snowfall is likely in mountainous areas during the current weather system.

Meanwhile, heavy rain accompanied by strong winds caused damage in Chaman city, Qila Abdullah, and Toba Achakzai, where electricity poles and trees were uprooted and boundary walls collapsed in several localities.

The Meteorological Department has forecast that the spell of rain and snowfall is expected to continue over the next few days. Tourists and travelers have been advised to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in hilly and vulnerable areas.
