Police operations carried out across Balochistan over the past month have resulted in the arrest of 1,698 suspects and the registration of 352 cases, according to officials.
The province-wide crackdown was launched on the special directives of Inspector General of Balochistan Police Mohammad Tahir Khan and targeted drug dealers, proclaimed offenders, absconders, and individuals involved in serious crimes.
Authorities said the operations also led to the safe recovery of six kidnapped persons during raids conducted in Quetta and districts falling under seven police ranges.
During the crackdown, police recovered a large cache of illegal weapons, including 135 pistols, 19 revolvers, 20 Kalashnikovs, 1,329 rounds of ammunition, and 114 magazines. Officials confirmed that 148 cases were registered specifically against armed criminals, leading to the arrest of 147 suspects.
In a major push against narcotics, police registered 204 cases against drug peddlers, arresting 213 individuals. Seized narcotics included 2,799 kilograms of hashish, 2,442 kilograms of crystal meth (ice), and 1,687 kilograms of opium. Other recoveries included 10 kilograms of bhang, 84 grams of heroin, 573 bottles of liquor, and 129 cans of beer.
Police also recovered six stolen vehicles, 67 motorcycles, 24 mobile phones, and 35 tola of gold. Officials reported the arrest of 155 proclaimed offenders and 342 absconders, while 841 suspects involved in various criminal activities were detained during the operations.
Additionally, law enforcement agencies seized Rs165,000 in cash, 4,950 litres of Iranian diesel, 21,376 litres of Iranian petrol, 2,010 cartons of Iranian cigarettes, and 68 banned and illegal medicines.
Balochistan Police reiterated their commitment to protecting the lives and property of citizens, stating that all available resources are being utilised, with public cooperation, to prevent crime and ensure a peaceful and secure environment across the province.
