Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said the provincial government’s new police digital initiatives would make public services more accessible and help address citizens’ complaints more effectively, with women expected to particularly benefit from the technology-driven system.
Addressing a ceremony for the Balochistan Police Digital Initiative in Quetta, Bugti welcomed the launch of the new police applications and congratulated the police department on the initiative, saying the digital services would provide greater convenience to citizens.
He said the applications would create easier channels for people to approach the police and lodge or address complaints, potentially improving the delivery of police services across the province.
Bugti particularly highlighted the potential impact on women, saying the new digital services could help reduce harassment and other incidents by giving women and other citizens more accessible means of seeking assistance.
He noted that women from Balochistan were already serving in the civil service and said the provincial government was also investing in women’s education through scholarship programmes that enable students to study at universities around the world.
Balochistan expands use of AI and digital technology
During his address, the chief minister also highlighted the provincial government’s use of artificial intelligence, saying Balochistan’s AI system has received appreciation from other provincial governments.
He said the adoption of digital technologies was becoming an important part of improving governance and public-facing services in the province.
