Inspector General of Police (IGP) Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir, has reaffirmed the Balochistan Police’s unwavering commitment to taking effective measures against terrorism and crime to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property across the province.
The IGP made these remarks during his visit to the homes of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel who embraced martyrdom during an operation against terrorists in the Noshar area, located on the outskirts of Quetta, a few days ago.
During the visit, IGP Tahir offered Fateha for the departed souls and expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. DIG Quetta Imran Shaukat and other senior police officers accompanied him.
Speaking on the occasion, the IGP said the sacrifices rendered by police martyrs would never go in vain.
“It is our responsibility to provide all possible facilities and support to the families of our martyrs. Their sacrifices are a symbol of courage and dedication in the fight against terrorism,” he stated.
Over 1,139 Police Personnel Martyred
Last month, IGP Tahir highlighted the immense sacrifices made by the Balochistan Police in the line of duty, revealing that 1,139 police personnel have lost their lives while serving the nation.
He also shared significant progress made under a recent province-wide security campaign, stating that law enforcement agencies arrested:
- 780 proclaimed offenders
- 1,466 absconders
- 1,404 other criminals
Additionally, police successfully recovered 26 kidnapped individuals during the operation.
Police Reforms Accelerated Across Balochistan
The IGP noted that reforms within the police department, initiated before the merger of B-Areas with A-Areas, have now been accelerated to improve operational efficiency and law enforcement capacity.
Among key reforms, he highlighted the establishment of a Serious Crime Wing, tasked with investigating complex and long-pending criminal cases to ensure they reach their logical conclusion.
He further said that Safe City surveillance cameras are being effectively used to monitor traffic movement and criminal activity, yielding positive results in maintaining law and order.
Modern Training for Integrated Levies Personnel
IGP Tahir also noted that former Levies personnel integrated into the police force are receiving modern professional training, significantly improving their performance in field operations.
He added that a dedicated department has been established to support the welfare of police martyrs’ families, while an internal accountability system ensures rewards for exemplary performance and disciplinary action against negligence.
The Balochistan Police chief reiterated that the force remains fully committed to combating terrorism and ensuring lasting peace and stability across the province.
