A delegation of parliamentarians from Pakistan’s Balochistan province concluded an official visit to Norway from February 15 to 18, 2026, as part of a broader European diplomatic outreach aimed at strengthening parliamentary engagement and presenting Pakistan’s perspective on regional security and development.
The delegation comprised Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, former caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, Senator Danesh Kumar, and Balochistan’s Provincial Minister for Communication and Works, Saleem Ahmed.
During the visit, the delegation met Asmund Aukrust, Norway’s Minister for International Development, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They also held discussions at the Norwegian Parliament with former Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik, Member of Parliament Farrukh Qureshi, and senior political advisers.
In addition to governmental engagements, the delegation participated in a wide range of interactions with local government bodies, chambers of commerce and industry, the Shipowners’ Association, sports federations, and cultural institutions, including the Henie Onstad Art Centre and the Nobel Peace Centre. Media engagements included interviews, meetings with newspaper editors, and dialogue sessions with WEXFO Young Experts. The delegation also interacted with the Pakistani and Baloch community residing in Norway.
An executive dinner hosted by the Embassy brought together senior Norwegian politicians, host government officials, business leaders, diplomats, journalists, and representatives from various sectors, providing an additional platform for exchange and dialogue.
According to officials, the delegation briefed Norwegian authorities and stakeholders on Balochistan’s economic and developmental potential, infrastructure priorities, and investment opportunities. Discussions also covered the province’s security environment and the policy and law-enforcement measures being implemented by the government to address security challenges.
The delegation further highlighted Balochistan’s cultural heritage, artistic traditions, and sporting potential as part of a broader effort to present the province’s soft image and societal diversity at international forums.
The Norway visit formed part of a wider European tour undertaken by the Balochistan parliamentary delegation from February 8 to 18, 2026, which also included Sweden and Denmark. The overall objective of the tour was to enhance parliamentary diplomacy, engage European policymakers and institutions, and present Pakistan’s position on regional security and development issues.
Officials noted that Balochistan continues to face sustained disinformation campaigns on international platforms, which they say often misrepresent the province’s security situation and development trajectory. The delegation emphasized the importance of factual engagement, transparent dialogue, and parliamentary outreach in addressing misconceptions and promoting informed international discourse.
Observers described the visit as a significant step toward strengthening Pakistan’s parliamentary diplomacy and expanding international engagement on Balochistan.
