Security forces have killed nine more terrorists during the ongoing Operation Shahban in Balochistan, taking the total number of terrorists eliminated in the operation to 52 and the overall tally of terrorists killed across the province since July 5 to 88, according to security sources.
The latest engagements were carried out as part of the ongoing joint counterterrorism campaign involving the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), and Balochistan Police.
According to security sources, nine terrorists were neutralised in the latest action, raising the number of terrorists eliminated under Operation Shahban to 52. Including other intelligence-based operations conducted across Balochistan since July 5, the total number of terrorists killed has reached 88.
Security sources said the operation would continue until the last terrorist operating in Balochistan is eliminated.
Operation Shahban was launched on July 5 in Quetta district’s Shahban area following the deadly terrorist attack on the Mangi Dam pumping station police post.
During the attack, terrorists martyred nine police personnel, including two station house officers (SHOs), and abducted 18 other police personnel at gunpoint. The abducted officers were later killed, and their bodies were recovered from the Zarghoon Gar mountainous area.
The large-scale operation was initiated to hunt down those responsible for the attack and dismantle their support networks.
Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said on Friday that another terrorist attack targeting a police station in the Zedi area of Khuzdar district had been successfully foiled earlier in the day.
Following the attempted attack, the provincial government and security agencies decided to intensify efforts against terrorist groups operating in the province.
Under this strategy, the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps and Balochistan Police launched a coordinated operation aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure, destroying militant hideouts, protecting civilian lives and property, and restoring lasting peace across the affected areas.
Security officials reiterated that operations against terrorists would continue until all militant networks in the province are dismantled.
