Security forces neutralised 14 terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Basima district, Balochistan.

In a major counter terrorism success in Balochistan, security forces killed 14 Indian-sponsored terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Basima district, while a soldier embraced martyrdom during the intense exchange of fire, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media wing said the operation was conducted on June 8, 2026, in the Naal area of Basima district after security agencies received credible intelligence regarding the presence of militants belonging to the Indian proxy group, Fitna al-Hindustan.

According to the ISPR, the terrorists were planning attacks on a nearby police station and banking facilities in the area. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, security forces launched a targeted operation to foil the militants’ plans before they could carry out their attacks in Balochistan.

During the operation, security forces effectively intercepted and engaged the terrorists. Following an intense exchange of fire, 14 militants were killed, while several others sustained injuries.

The ISPR further stated that four vehicles being used by the terrorists were destroyed during the operation. Improvised explosive devices (IEDs) recovered from the militants were also destroyed on the spot.

However, during the fierce gun battle, Lance Havildar Muhammad Abbas displayed exceptional courage and bravery. The soldier fought gallantly and embraced martyrdom in the line of duty while defending Pakistan against terrorism.

Security forces have launched sanitisation operations in the area to eliminate any remaining threats and ensure complete security, the military’s media wing added.

The ISPR reaffirmed that counterterrorism operations under the national security framework “Azm-e-Istehkam” will continue across Balochistan and the rest of the country to eradicate the menace of foreign-sponsored terrorism and maintain peace and stability.

Officials reiterated the nation’s resolve to defeat terrorism and honour the sacrifices made by security personnel in safeguarding Pakistan’s security and sovereignty.
