The Government of Balochistan has imposed a province-wide 15-day ban on the transportation of nitrogen-based fertilizers, including urea, calcium ammonium nitrate, ammonium nitrate and potassium nitrate, citing security concerns and the potential misuse of these materials in improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The restrictions also suspend the sale, purchase, supply and distribution of these fertilizers while authorities prepare new standard operating procedures (SOPs) for their regulated movement and storage.
