A recent audit report has uncovered financial irregularities worth 3.41 billion rupees in Balochistan’s Local Government Department, raising concerns over its financial management.
The audit revealed that the department made unauthorized expenses exceeding 29 crore rupees. In addition, 70 crore rupees were spent without prior approval, and the department failed to provide crucial records worth 3.76 crore rupees to the audit team.
The findings, now submitted to the Public Accounts Committee, also reveal a significant revenue shortfall of 79 crore 29 lakh rupees for the last financial year. The audit further highlighted that the department suffered a loss of 77 crore 49 lakh rupees due to its failure to increase asset rental rates.
Furthermore, 2 crore 53 lakh rupees were found to have been misused, intensifying the scrutiny of financial operations within the department.
