Balochistan security operations conducted after terror attacks in Kalat, Ziarat and Sibi
Security forces intensified intelligence-based operations across Balochistan following a series of terrorist incidents in Kalat, Ziarat, Mastung and Sibi districts.

From the Ziarat Cross ambush and the attempted raid on Bhag Police Station to intelligence-based operations in Mastung, Quetta and Kalat, security forces have intensified counter-terror operations across Balochistan. Here is a look at the key developments that shaped the province over the past 48 hours.

The past 48 hours have seen a series of major security developments across Balochistan, ranging from a deadly terrorist ambush near Ziarat to intelligence-based operations in Kalat, Mastung and Sibi that security officials say have significantly disrupted terrorist networks operating in the province.

The latest incidents come as Pakistan’s security forces continue an intensified counter-terrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam, targeting terrorist hideouts, facilitators and operational infrastructure across Balochistan.

Ziarat Cross Ambush

The most prominent incident occurred near Ziarat Cross on the Ziarat-Harnai Road, where terrorists launched a coordinated ambush targeting the convoy of the Assistant Commissioner Harnai.

The convoy was travelling under Frontier Corps protection when it came under attack. Security forces responded immediately, leading to a prolonged firefight and subsequent clearance operation.

According to the ISPR, 11 terrorists were killed during the engagement.

The attack highlighted the continued efforts of terrorist groups to target government officials and security personnel in remote districts of Balochistan, where difficult terrain often presents operational challenges.

Following the incident, additional search and sanitisation operations were launched in nearby areas.

Kalat Operation Results in 12 Terrorist Fatalities

In another major development, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Kalat District after receiving information about the presence of terrorists.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), troops located a terrorist hideout and engaged the terrorists during the operation.

The military stated that 12 terrorists were killed, while a cache of weapons, ammunition and improvised explosive devices was recovered and destroyed.

Security officials described the operation as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist infrastructure and deny safe havens to anti-state elements operating in the province.

Quetta: Major Operation in Shaban Area

In the Shaban area of Quetta District, security forces launched an intelligence-based operation after identifying terrorist hideouts.

According to security sources, troops located four separate hideouts and eliminated 26 terrorists during the operation, making it the largest single engagement reported over the past two days.

The operation reflects the growing emphasis on intelligence-led targeting of terrorist networks before they can execute attacks.

Counter-Terror Operations Expand Across Balochistan

As security pressure increased, multiple intelligence-based operations were launched in different districts on September 4.

Mastung Operation

Security forces detected terrorist movement in Mastung and engaged the group during an intelligence-led operation.

According to security sources, six terrorists were killed following an exchange of fire. Explosive material and ammunition were also destroyed during the operation.

Kalat Follow-Up Operation

In a separate engagement in Kalat, security forces raided another terrorist hideout and eliminated two terrorists.

Officials said follow-up operations were carried out to ensure no remaining terrorist elements were present in the area.

Terrorist Attack on Bhag Police Station Foiled

In Bhag, located in Sibi District, terrorists attempted to attack a police station in what authorities described as an effort to target law enforcement personnel and undermine local security.

Police, security forces and local residents responded swiftly, preventing the attackers from breaching the facility.

During the firefight, two terrorists were killed, while the police station remained secure.

The incident demonstrated the continued threat faced by law enforcement personnel in vulnerable areas, as well as the importance of rapid coordination between security agencies and local communities.

Why These Developments Matter

The events of the last 48 hours reflect the dual nature of Balochistan’s current security environment.

While terrorist groups continue attempts to target security personnel, government officials and public institutions, security forces have simultaneously increased the pace of intelligence-based operations aimed at disrupting terrorist planning, logistics and movement.

Recent operations have focused not only on responding to attacks but also on locating and destroying terrorist hideouts, weapons caches and support networks before future attacks can be carried out.

Security analysts note that intelligence-led operations have become a central component of Pakistan’s broader counter-terrorism strategy in Balochistan, particularly in districts where terrorist groups seek to exploit difficult terrain and remote operating environments.

What Happens Next?

According to the ISPR, sanitisation operations remain underway in affected areas to eliminate any remaining terrorist presence.

Security officials have reiterated that operations under Azm-e-Istehkam will continue, with security forces and law enforcement agencies maintaining pressure on terrorist networks across Balochistan.

As follow-up investigations and operations continue, authorities remain focused on preventing future attacks and consolidating recent security gains in one of Pakistan’s most strategically important provinces.
