The Excise and Taxation Department of Balochistan has intensified its province-wide campaign against illegal cannabis cultivation, destroying more than 2,054 acres of illicit crops under the ongoing cannabis elimination drive.

According to official sources, the latest phase of the anti-narcotics operation targeted the Gulistan Karez and Sagai areas of District Qila Abdullah, where enforcement teams—assisted by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF)—cleared 310 acres of cannabis within two days.

Using drones, satellite mapping, and heavy machinery, authorities identified and eradicated cannabis fields hidden deep within the region’s rugged terrain.

Over 2,000 Acres Cleared in Province-Wide Crackdown

A departmental spokesperson confirmed that 270 acres of crops were destroyed manually, while another 40 acres withered naturally due to water scarcity.
So far, 21 cases have been registered, including two new ones linked to the latest operations.

Officials emphasized that the campaign is part of a broader national strategy to curb the cultivation and trafficking of narcotics across Pakistan.

Zero-Tolerance Policy on Narcotics

The Excise and Taxation Department reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward drug production and smuggling.
“The mission is clear — to rid Balochistan of illegal drug cultivation and safeguard future generations,” an official said.

The department reaffirmed its continued coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Force, local administration, and law enforcement agencies to ensure sustainable results from the campaign.
