The launch of Balochistan’s new intelligence center (PIFTAC) marks a strategic shift in provincial security, offering real-time intelligence sharing, faster threat response, and stronger coordination between law enforcement and military agencies.

The inauguration of Balochistan’s Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Center (PIFTAC) in Quetta represents a major step toward improving the province’s security landscape. Designed as a central hub for intelligence gathering and analysis, the center allows the police, Frontier Corps, counter-terrorism units, intelligence agencies, and customs to work together efficiently, sharing information in real time.

Previously, security agencies often operated independently, which slowed response times and limited situational awareness. PIFTAC changes that by centralizing intelligence, connecting provincial authorities to the national intelligence system in Islamabad, and enabling coordinated action against terrorism, organized crime, and threats to critical infrastructure.

A key advantage of the center is its ability to provide proactive threat assessments. By identifying risks before they escalate, authorities can take preventative measures, protecting both civilians and important installations. This approach marks a shift from reactive policing to intelligence-led security management, making law enforcement more strategic and effective.

PIFTAC also strengthens civil-military coordination, ensuring that all stakeholders—civil authorities, military, and federal agencies—are aligned. In a province with complex security challenges like Balochistan, this collaboration builds trust, improves decision-making, and increases the effectiveness of security operations.

Overall, the new intelligence center is a game-changer for Balochistan’s security landscape. By enhancing real-time information sharing, enabling faster threat response, and fostering inter-agency cooperation, PIFTAC positions the province to better detect, prevent, and neutralize security threats. Its successful operation could serve as a model for other provinces, showing how centralized intelligence hubs can strengthen both public safety and regional stability.
