The Balochistan IGP police welfare package announced by Inspector General Muhammad Tahir includes major financial reforms for police personnel and the families of martyrs, with compensation and benefits nearly doubled from previous levels.
After assuming charge as IGP, Tahir met senior journalists in Quetta, acknowledging their vital role in highlighting crime and public issues.
“Journalists play an important role in pointing out problems, which helps the police and other institutions address the challenges faced by citizens,” he said.
The IGP emphasized that improving the welfare and professional capacity of the force would remain his top priority. He said the department would continue to enhance its operational capability to effectively combat terrorism and organized crime in the province.
Under the new welfare package, families of martyred police personnel (Shuhada) will receive Rs200,000 as immediate assistance, up from Rs100,000. Serving police employees will be entitled to Rs50,000 for their own marriages, while Rs200,000 will be granted for the marriage of daughters of martyred or deceased officers.
Serving personnel will now also receive Rs100,000 instead of Rs25,000 for the marriage of two daughters. Additionally, the widows of police employees will receive enhanced monthly financial assistance, Tahir confirmed.
He said these measures aim to boost morale, ensure social security for the police force, and demonstrate the government’s recognition of their sacrifices in maintaining law and order in Balochistan.
