Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said that providing basic, quality and accessible healthcare is among the provincial government’s top priorities, with particular attention to mothers, girls and children.
By adressing at the launch of the Essential Package of Health Services, Balochistan, the chief minister said the government was using available resources to improve the healthcare system and extend medical services to people, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
Bugti said 164 basic health units (BHUs) had been made functional across Balochistan, enabling people in distant areas to access essential healthcare services closer to their homes.
The chief minister also highlighted efforts to make healthcare facilities operational in remote parts of the province. He specifically appreciated the work of Dr Bari in making a hospital functional in a remote area of Dera Bugti.
The hospital recently recorded its first childbirth, with the newborn boy named Bakht Muhammad, an occasion highlighted by the chief minister as an example of how efforts to restore healthcare facilities can improve access to medical services in remote communities.
Bugti expressed satisfaction with the performance of the provincial Health Department and said the availability of public health services remained an important component of the government’s policy.
Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, while addressing the seminar, also outlined ongoing initiatives in the provincial health sector.
The event was attended by Chief Minister’s Adviser for Women Development Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi, Opposition Leader Mir Younas Aziz Zehri, senior Health Department officials and other relevant personalities.
Balochistan Health Department’s approach places greater emphasis on extending basic healthcare to communities that remain distant from major hospitals. The government says efforts are also being made to strengthen services in remote areas, including the recently functional hospital in Dera Bugti where the facility recorded its first childbirth.
These measures reflect a broader effort to improve the availability of primary healthcare while strengthening the province’s public health infrastructure. With continued attention to service delivery, maternal and child health, preventive care and access in underserved districts, the Health Department aims to make essential medical services more accessible to communities across Balochistan.
