The Balochistan Health Department has dismissed 26 lady doctors, two medical officers, and a watchman from service due to prolonged unauthorized absence, according to an official notification issued by the department.
The notification states that the action was taken after approval from Balochistan Health Secretary Mujeeb-ur-Rehman. The dismissals have been carried out under Section 4(b)(vii) of the Balochistan Employees Efficiency and Discipline Act (BEDA) 2011 and are effective immediately.
The terminated doctors were serving at Civil Hospital Quetta, Bolan Medical Complex (BMC), and various healthcare facilities across the province. Health authorities said the decision was aimed at ensuring attendance and improving the delivery of public healthcare services.
According to departmental sources, the affected doctors had remained absent from duty for extended periods without authorization. The Health Department maintained that strict disciplinary measures are necessary to improve accountability and service delivery in government hospitals.
Balochistan Government Announces Age Relaxation for Public Sector Jobs
In a separate development, the Government of Balochistan has announced a general relaxation in the upper age limit for recruitment to government jobs.
According to an official notification, the maximum age limit for general candidates, persons with disabilities, and legal heirs of martyrs has been increased to 43 years.
The notification further states that government employees who have completed at least two years of continuous service will be eligible to apply up to the age of 50 years.
However, the government clarified that the relaxation will not apply to positions where the prescribed maximum age limit is already below 43 years. Officials also confirmed that no additional age concessions will be granted beyond the newly announced policy.
The revised age relaxation policy will remain effective for three years from the date of the notification and is expected to provide greater employment opportunities to job seekers across the province.
The twin developments reflect the provincial government’s efforts to strengthen public sector accountability while expanding access to government employment opportunities in Balochistan.
