The Balochistan government has taken notice of the murder of retired schoolteacher Master Inayatullah Jattak, the father of Asma Jattak, with police registering a case against four suspects in connection with the killing.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), Master Inayatullah Jattak was shot dead on Tuesday in Khuzdar’s Shahzad City area while he was on his way to a mosque to deliver the call to prayer. The case was registered on the complaint of his son, Police Constable Hamidullah Jattak.
The complainant alleged that the nominated suspects—Zahoor Ahmed Jamalzai, Nadir Magsi, Shafi Muhammad Jamalzai and Zafarullah—were already present at the scene and opened indiscriminate fire, resulting in the death of Master Inayatullah Jattak.
The FIR further states that the main suspect had previously issued threats to the family and warned of serious consequences related to Asma Jattak’s marriage. The killing reportedly occurred around two hours after Asma Jattak released a video statement on social media.
Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove took strong notice of the incident and directed police authorities to submit a report within two days and ensure immediate action against those responsible.
“Justice will be served in the Asma Jattak case, and no one will be considered above the law,” the minister said.
Langove stated that law enforcement agencies had conducted raids at locations identified by the victim’s family and assured that action would be taken regardless of the influence or status of those involved.
Khuzdar City Police Station SHO Munir Ahmed Jattak confirmed that the FIR was registered on the complaint of the victim’s son. The case includes charges related to murder, criminal intimidation, rioting and the use of lethal weapons under relevant provisions of Pakistani law.
Meanwhile, Balochistan Assembly Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai has summoned police officials to explain the lack of arrests in the case.
Responding to allegations circulating on social media, a statement issued by Khalq-e-Jhalawan, associated with Nawab Sanaullah Zehri’s residence, rejected any connection to either Asma Jattak’s alleged abduction or the murder of her father.
The spokesperson stated that Khalq-e-Jhalawan had no involvement in either incident and had never provided protection to criminals. The statement added that neither Nawab Sanaullah Zehri nor his son is currently in Pakistan and called on law enforcement authorities to arrest the individuals nominated by the victim’s family and ensure a transparent investigation.
