The Government of Balochistan has formally begun implementing the terms of its agreement with the Ziarat protest committee, launching a province-wide initiative to rename government institutions in honor of the martyrs of the Ziarat tragedy.
The move marks one of the first major steps taken by the provincial government following the agreement reached with the families of the victims and the protest committee.
According to official directives issued by the Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the Home Department, School Education Department and Health Department have been instructed to complete all legal and administrative formalities required for renaming government buildings, police stations, educational institutions and health facilities after the martyrs. The departments have also been directed to obtain approval from the competent authority before implementing the changes.
Four Police Stations to Bear Names of Ziarat Martyrs
As part of the implementation, four police stations in Ziarat district will be renamed in memory of security personnel who lost their lives.
The changes include:
- Sarmaksi Police Station to be renamed Shaheed Hasratullah Kakar Police Station.
- Dosarka Shabozai Police Station to become Shaheed Jandad Khan Police Station.
- Mangi Police Station to be renamed Shaheed Zainullah Panizai Police Station.
- Zandra Police Station to become Shaheed Major Zaman Panizai Police Station.
Schools to Be Named After Fallen Police Personnel
Several government educational institutions will also be dedicated to the martyrs.
Under the notification:
Kan Depot Government Boys High School will be renamed Shaheed Constable Mustafa Khan Government Boys High School Kan Depot.
Kan Depot Girls Middle School will become Shaheed Constable Muhammad Asif Girls Middle School Kan Depot.
Government Boys High School Kaos Gharbi will be renamed Shaheed Constable Muhammad Usman Government Boys High School Kaos Gharbi.
Health Facilities Also Renamed
The provincial government has also approved the renaming of two health facilities in tribute to the martyrs.
These include:
- Ahmedun Rural Health Centre, which will be renamed Shaheed Constable Azhar Ahmed Damar Rural Health Centre Ahmedun.
- Basic Health Unit Kaos Gharbi, which will become Shaheed Fareedullah Basic Health Unit Kaos Gharbi.
CM Sarfraz Bugti Reaffirms Commitment
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said the provincial government remains committed to implementing every clause of the agreement reached with the families of the martyrs and the protest committee.
“The government is ensuring full implementation of every commitment made to the families of the martyrs. Those who sacrificed their lives in defence of the country, for maintaining peace and protecting the lives and property of the people are the pride of the entire nation,” the chief minister said.
He added that naming public institutions after the martyrs is a lasting tribute that will preserve the memory of their sacrifices for future generations.
The implementation of the agreement is being viewed as a significant confidence-building measure aimed at honouring the sacrifices of the fallen personnel while fulfilling commitments made by the provincial government.
