Balochistan’s ongoing counterterrorism efforts received a boost on Thursday after security forces killed five terrorists in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Panjgur district. The operation, conducted in the Killi Suran area under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-3, also led to the recovery of weapons, ammunition, vehicles and an improvised explosive device (IED).
The operation was launched following intelligence reports regarding the movement of terrorists allegedly planning a major attack in the region. Security forces engaged the militants, killing five terrorists while several others were reported injured during the operation.
According to sources, the terrorists were traveling on motorcycles and were preparing to carry out a significant terrorist attack. Security forces used advanced surveillance technology and precision targeting capabilities to neutralize the threat.
Large Cache of Weapons Recovered
Security officials said a substantial quantity of weapons, ammunition, and operational equipment was recovered from the dead terrorists. The seized material included:
- Modern weapons and ammunition
- Three vehicles
- Two motorcycles
- An improvised explosive device (IED)
- A flag belonging to a proscribed organization
Authorities stated that the killed terrorists were allegedly involved in a range of criminal and terrorist activities, including:
- Extortion and armed robbery
- Kidnapping for ransom
- Targeted killings
- Planning suicide attacks
- Terror-related activities in Panjgur and adjoining areas
Security Operations Continue Across Balochistan
Security forces reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating terrorism from Balochistan, stating that operations under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-3 would continue to dismantle militant networks and restore lasting peace in the province.
The state has designated certain Balochistan-based militant groups as Fitna al-Hindustan, alleging external support aimed at destabilizing Pakistan.
Mohsin Naqvi Praises Security Forces
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the security forces for the successful operation, describing it as a significant achievement in counterterrorism efforts.
He said the timely action prevented terrorist elements from executing plans that could have threatened regional peace and stability. Naqvi praised the professionalism and preparedness demonstrated by the security personnel during the operation.
Series of Successful Counterterrorism Operations
The Panjgur operation follows a series of recent intelligence-based operations across Balochistan:
- More than nine terrorists were killed in operations in Ziarat, Harnai, and Surab.
- Six terrorists were neutralized in separate operations in Ziarat-Harnai and Killi Zaik.
- Seven terrorists linked to Fitna al-Khawarij were killed in Kharan.
- Five terrorists, including a key commander identified as Wazir, were eliminated in Panjgur on August 10.
- Fifteen terrorists were killed in coordinated operations across eight districts on August 9.
- Twelve terrorists linked to Fitna al-Hindustan were killed in Washuk and Mastung on August 6.
Security officials maintain that sustained intelligence-based operations are disrupting militant networks, restricting terrorist movement, and strengthening security across Balochistan.
