Balochistan government sets up first Artificial Intelligence AI Cell in the Home Department to analyze security data and improve law and order in Quetta
Balochistan Home Department launches its first AI Cell to strengthen data-driven security management and law and order across the province.

In a major move toward modern, technology-based governance, the Balochistan government has established its first Artificial Intelligence (AI) Cell within the Home Department to strengthen security oversight and improve law and order across the province.

An official statement confirmed that Deputy Secretary Fazlur Rehman Kabdani has been appointed as In-Charge of the AI Cell and has formally assumed charge with immediate effect.

Technology-Driven Security Monitoring

The AI Cell will process and analyze data obtained from the Balochistan Integrated Security Architecture (BISA) along with other authorized security and administrative databases. The purpose is to detect crime patterns, security vulnerabilities, and potential threats at an early stage.

Officials said the initiative will enable the provincial government to shift from reactive policing to preventive and predictive security planning, allowing timely interventions before incidents escalate.

Early Detection of Threats

Using advanced analytical tools, the AI Cell will support law enforcement agencies by:

  • Identifying emerging crime trends

  • Mapping high-risk and sensitive areas

  • Generating early alerts on potential security threats

  • Improving coordination among security and intelligence institutions

The system is expected to enhance the analytical capacity of police and other law enforcement agencies, leading to better-informed operational decisions.

Evidence-Based Policy Support

According to the press release, the AI Cell will play a key role in data-driven decision-making, ensuring that policies and security operations are guided by real-time analysis. Strict protocols will be followed to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive security data.

Regular analytical reports will be submitted to the Home Department to assist in policy formulation, strategic planning, and operational review.

Academic and Technical Collaboration

To support research and innovation, the Home Department will collaborate with leading academic and technology institutions based in Quetta, including BUITEMS, NUST, and the Mount View Technology Park. These partnerships aim to develop local expertise in artificial intelligence, data analytics, and security technology.

The establishment of the AI Cell marks a significant step toward modernizing governance and strengthening security management in Balochistan through the use of advanced technology.
