Balochistan government bans strikes in schools and colleges under Special Education Services Act 2019
The Balochistan government has imposed a six-month ban on strikes in the education sector to ensure uninterrupted academic activities.

The Balochistan government has declared all strikes and illegal work stoppages in the education sector prohibited under the Balochistan Special Education Services Act 2019, a move aimed at ensuring uninterrupted academic activities across the province.

According to reports, the decision has been taken in the broader public interest to maintain continuity in teaching and learning at schools and colleges. The School Education Department of Balochistan has formally termed any strike by teachers or educational staff as illegal, warning that legal action will be initiated against institutions or individuals found violating the order.

Officials said that under Section 6 of the Act, a complete ban on strikes has been imposed on all educational institutions — both public and private — for a period of six months. Sources within the department confirmed that enforcement mechanisms and penalty frameworks are already in place to deal with violations.

The notification has been declared immediately enforceable and applies to government and private schools as well as colleges throughout Balochistan. Authorities say the step is intended to protect students’ academic calendars, avoid learning disruptions, and ensure that educational services continue without interruption.

The provincial government has reiterated that education has been declared an essential service, and any attempt to halt academic activities through strikes or lockouts will be dealt with strictly under the law.
