CM Sarfraz Bugti speaking on corruption in Balochistan

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has alleged that terrorists operating against Pakistan are receiving government protection in Afghanistan and called for a robust response to root out militancy in the province. He reminded Kabul of the Doha agreement, recalling its pledge that Afghan territory would not be used against other countries.

Speaking to reporters, CM Bugti said security forces will not allow the writ of the state to be challenged and pledged sustained operations to restore peace in Balochistan. “We are working for law and order in the province and will show no leniency to terrorists who target innocent civilians,” he said.

Bugti accused militant groups of exploiting Baloch identity to destabilise the state. He defended previous attempts at negotiations, saying political leaders from Mangal and Malik’s parties had engaged in dialogue with the government. “There are those who have not taken up arms, and those who have. Deprivation is not a justification for killing people,” he said, rejecting violence in any form.

Responding to propaganda circulating around missing persons, Bugti said activists such as Mahrang Baloch are spreading misleading narratives. “We will not allow a state within a state,” he warned, adding that efforts are underway to consolidate and neutralise all terrorist organisations operating in Balochistan.

The chief minister also alleged that Indian intelligence agency RAW is behind the campaign of violence, saying security forces have carried out major operations to frustrate those efforts. He said militants are using media and communications channels beyond the capability of security agencies, and that restrictions on certain services — while inconvenient — are sometimes necessary to tackle terrorism.

Bugti reiterated his claim that militants have safe havens, training camps and logistical support inside Afghanistan, and urged Kabul to honour the Doha accord’s commitments that Afghan soil will not be used against other countries.

On the issue of narcotics, the chief minister said the provincial government will use satellite imagery to identify and eradicate poppy cultivation. “We will conduct comprehensive operations to eliminate drug production,” he said.

Bugti also referred to reports that the mastermind behind the Jaffar Express attack has been killed in Afghanistan, but offered no further details.

Security officials and independent sources were not immediately available to confirm the CM’s allegations. The provincial government says it will continue coordinated operations with federal and local agencies to restore stability and curb militancy and drug cultivation in Balochistan.
