
The Balochistan cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has approved a series of groundbreaking policies aimed at promoting tolerance, protecting marginalized communities, and advancing sustainable development across the province. During the 19th cabinet meeting, CM Sarfraz Bugti described these decisions as a “guarantee for the public interest and sustainable development of Balochistan,” demonstrating his administration’s commitment to practical reforms that uplift minorities, women, and the transgender community.
Among the key decisions, the cabinet approved the creation of a dedicated fund to enhance facilities and ensure equal opportunities for minority communities. A province-wide ban on hate speech publication was enacted to foster societal harmony and curb divisive rhetoric. In a historic move, the cabinet endorsed Balochistan’s first-ever policy for transgender individuals, designed to secure their rights and promote social and economic inclusion.
The cabinet also approved a comprehensive plan to modernize air travel infrastructure and praised the Aviation Directorate’s swift rescue operation in Turbat, which saved three lives through an emergency airlift to Karachi. To bring essential services closer to underserved populations, the provincial government designated Sakran and Karbala as new tehsils.
Additional approvals included the construction of a state-of-the-art healthcare facility to improve regional medical access and the reinstatement of historical district names Khaliqabad and Shaheed Sikandarabad, following a Supreme Court ruling. The government emphasized adopting new regulations for safe and effective medical waste disposal across healthcare institutions.
Development charges were waived for World Food Programme shipments destined for Afghanistan, reinforcing Balochistan’s role in regional humanitarian efforts. The cabinet supported the bill introduced by MNAs Shazia Marri and Qadir Patel for provincial legal reforms and ratified the Constitutional Amendment Bill 2024 presented by MNA Riaz Fatyana.
The meeting endorsed integrating Technical Education and Vocational Training Institutes under B-TEVTA, streamlining technical education across the province. The cabinet approved establishing a modern Prince Fahd Hospital in Dalbandin to provide quality healthcare facilities and adopted the “Hospital Waste Management Rules 2025” for effective and safe waste management in health centers.
The Social Welfare Department’s efforts to clear the city’s nullah of drug addicts were appreciated, and a committee was formed to review these measures. The cabinet carefully considered agenda points from multiple departments, including Livestock and Dairy Development, Local Government, Law, Forest, Board of Revenue, Science and Information Technology, Mines and Minerals, Higher Education, Social Welfare, and Communications and Works.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti stated that the cabinet’s decisions guarantee public interest and sustainable development in Balochistan. “Our government believes in moving forward with all segments of society and is taking practical steps to protect the rights of marginalized groups, including minorities, women, and transgender,” he said. He added that major projects in health, education, and infrastructure are being initiated to provide better facilities to the public.
The CM emphasized that the cabinet’s decisions demonstrate transparency and good governance, reflecting a positive and sustainable journey toward the province’s progress and prosperity. He reiterated that major initiatives in health, education, and infrastructure are underway to deliver improved services and lasting progress for the people of the province.
