DERA BUGTI: Armed assailants belonging to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) abducted at least nine shepherds from the Bugti tribe in Sui tehsil, Levies officials and local sources confirmed on Monday.
According to officials, a group of BLA militants entered the Gothan area of Sui, held people at gunpoint, and took nine individuals to an undisclosed location. The abducted men belong to the Hujwani sub-clan of the Bugti tribe and were herding livestock at the time of the attack. The incident has triggered fear and unrest in the area.
Levies and other security forces immediately launched a cordon and search operation to trace the abducted shepherds and ensure their safe recovery.
Local sources recalled that just two months ago, the BLA was involved in the abduction and subsequent killing of the Assistant Commissioner of Ziarat and his son after demanding ransom — a case that drew nationwide condemnation.
Authorities fear the latest abduction may be linked to the group’s continued campaign of violence and intimidation in Balochistan.
