The Balochistan Anti-Rape Crisis Cell has been inaugurated at Civil Sandeman Provincial Hospital and Bolan Medical Complex Hospital in Quetta. The initiative, launched by Dr. Rubaba Khan Buledi, Advisor to Chief Minister for Women Development, was established with the support of UN Women to provide comprehensive protection and assistance to survivors of sexual violence in the province.

Dr. Rubaba Buledi said that the Balochistan Anti-Rape Crisis Cell marks a revolutionary step toward women’s safety and justice. “These centers will provide immediate medical care, legal support, and psychological counseling to victims under one roof,” she stated.

One-Stop Support for Survivors

According to Dr. Rubaba, the Anti-Rape Crisis Cell in Balochistan is the first integrated system designed to ensure quick access to justice and rehabilitation for victims of gender-based violence. She emphasized that this initiative reflects Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti’s vision to empower women and strengthen legal mechanisms in the province.

She added that more Balochistan Anti-Rape Crisis Cells will soon be established in other districts to extend the same level of support and protection across the province.

UN Women Partnership Praised

Dr. Rubaba expressed her gratitude to UN Women for technical and administrative support. Representatives from the Health Department, civil society, and the United Nations attended the ceremony, calling it a milestone in the province’s journey toward gender equality.

Observers said that this step fills a long-standing gap in Balochistan, where rape cases were often underreported due to lack of medical, legal, and psychological assistance for survivors.
