Security forces killed 21 terrorists during separate intelligence-based operations in Balochistan while six security personnel, including two officers and a Customs Department official, embraced martyrdom, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Monday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operations were conducted during the night between August 31 and September 1 in the Nokcha area of Chagai district and at Ziarat Cross in Pishin district.
ISPR said terrorists attempted to disrupt traffic on the Quetta-Taftan National Highway (N-40) by setting up an illegal checkpoint and extorting money from travelers. Security forces responded immediately and engaged the terrorists in a fierce exchange of fire.
As a result of the operation, 11 terrorists were killed, while a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from their possession.
In a separate operation, terrorists launched an attack on a Customs House. Security forces effectively repelled the assault, killing 10 terrorists after an intense firefight.
The military said fleeing terrorists were also pursued, resulting in additional casualties among the attackers.
ISPR described the attack on the Customs House as a clear example of the nexus between terrorism and organized crime. The statement said the objective of the attack was to prevent customs officials from carrying out their lawful duties and to facilitate the continuation of criminal activities in the region.
During the operations, six security personnel laid down their lives in the line of duty. The martyrs included two military officers and a Customs Department official.
Paying tribute to the fallen personnel, ISPR said the nation’s brave sons sacrificed their lives while defending the country and protecting its people.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating terrorism and said counterterrorism operations would continue across the country without discrimination.
