Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has granted a 60-day reduction in prison sentences for convicted inmates across the province. The announcement was made on Thursday by Balochistan provincial government spokesperson Shahid Rind.
According to an official notification, the concession applies to all convicted prisoners in Balochistan’s jails and judicial detention centers, except those found guilty of serious crimes. Ineligible categories include convicts involved in offenses against national security, terrorism, murder, rape, kidnapping, armed robbery, and other grave offenses.

The notification further stated that inmates who have already benefited from a special pardon earlier this year will not be entitled to this reduction.
Shahid Rind said the move aims to share the joy of Independence Day with prisoners and their families while reflecting the government’s commitment to rehabilitating inmates and supporting their reintegration into society as law-abiding, productive citizens.
