The United States has officially designated the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and its suicide wing, the Majeed Brigade, as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs).How did Pakistan achieved this mile stone and what led to the U.S designation of BLA and alias Majeed brigade as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
How the Designation Happened
According to Sardar Masood Khan, a former Pakistani diplomat to the U.S., the designation was achieved after months of strategic engagement by Pakistan. He explained, “Field Marshal Asim Munir’s visits to Washington played a key role in presenting irrefutable evidence linking India to the BLA and Majeed Brigade.
Pakistan successfully convinced U.S. officials that these groups were being funded, trained, and directed by Indian agencies to destabilize Pakistan.” Khan further noted,
“When the U.S. designates a group, the rest of the U.S.-allied countries follow suit. This is why the designation of BLA and Majeed Brigade is such a significant diplomatic victory for Pakistan.”
What Pakistan Achieved: A Diplomatic Triumph
The designation of the BLA and Majeed Brigade is not just symbolic for Pakistan but represents a major diplomatic win. As Brigadier (R) Harris Nawaz, a defense analyst, put it, “This is a huge diplomatic win for Pakistan. The U.S. designation of the Majeed Brigade, in particular, exposes India’s direct involvement in supporting these terror groups.
Now, all funds tied to these groups will be frozen, and those supporting these proxies, including figures like Ajit Doval, India’s National Security Advisor, will now be under intense international scrutiny.”
Harris Nawaz further explained, “Through Field Marshal Asim Munir’s diplomatic efforts, Pakistan was able to secure this critical designation, which not only weakens the groups but places their supporters under greater international pressure.”
What It Means to Be Designated: Global Scrutiny and Consequences
For the designated groups, being labeled as FTOs has serious consequences. Sardar Masood Khan elaborated, “Once a group is designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, it triggers a series of actions, including freezing of funds.
The individuals or entities supporting these groups will now face increased scrutiny.” Khan stressed that this designation was a powerful tool in Pakistan’s diplomatic arsenal, as it helps expose the support behind these groups and holds those responsible accountable.
Brigadier Nawaz also weighed in on the global implications: “The world now knows who is behind these attacks. This designation forces the international community to reassess India’s role in supporting terrorism, especially given the evidence linking India to these proxy groups.”
Expert Analysis: What’s Next for Pakistan’s Diplomacy?
Despite this achievement, both Khan and Nawaz agreed that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts must continue. Sardar Masood Khan stated, “This is a significant victory, but there is still more work to be done. There are other terrorist groups operating under India’s influence that need to be exposed.”
Brigadier Nawaz echoed this point, saying, “This designation should be a catalyst for Pakistan to push for the designation of other groups linked to India. It’s crucial that Pakistan continues its diplomatic efforts to dismantle the entire network of Indian-backed terrorist organizations.”
The U.S. designation of the BLA and Majeed Brigade marks a significant diplomatic triumph for Pakistan. As Sardar Masood Khan emphasized, “Pakistan has successfully shifted the narrative on India’s role in supporting terrorism.
This designation strengthens Pakistan’s position on the global stage and brings much-needed international attention to the issue.” With this achievement, Pakistan has taken a crucial step toward securing greater global support in the fight against terrorism.
