Authorities are investigating a bakery in Killi Gul Muhammad, located on Quetta’s Airport Road, after 14 people, including children as young as two years old, became seriously ill from consuming contaminated food.
Swift action was taken by the Balochistan Food Authority (BFA), which sealed the bakery after uncovering alarming violations during an inspection. According to a BFA spokesperson, the inspection, ordered by Director General Waqar Khurshid Alam, revealed food that was spoiled and infected with fungus.

The premises were found to be unsanitary, with poor storage practices contributing to the contamination. Furthermore, many products lacked proper labeling, including production and expiry dates, in clear violation of food safety laws.
Samples from the bakery have been sent to a laboratory for detailed testing. These results will guide any further legal actions against the shop’s management. Before sealing the bakery, officials visited a private medical facility to assess the condition of those affected. The patients, who range in age from two to forty years old, reportedly experienced symptoms of illness shortly after consuming products from the shop.
This incident underscores the critical need for strict adherence to food safety regulations to prevent harm to public health.
