Quetta: Assistant Commissioner of Tump, Muhammad Hanif Noorzai, who was abducted four months ago, has been safely recovered and brought to Quetta. According to district administration officials, Noorzai was flown to the provincial capital on a special plane arranged by the Chief Minister of Balochistan.
Noorzai was kidnapped on June 4 by armed men of the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) while he was returning to his hometown to celebrate Eid. His kidnappers spared his family members, driver, and gunman during the abduction. Later, the BLA publicly claimed responsibility.
Family urges release of abducted Tump Assistant Commissioner
Security officials said that under the leadership of Bashir Zeb, the BLA has increasingly resorted to abductions for ransom and looting banks to finance its militant activities. The kidnapping of Noorzai was seen as part of this strategy.
The safe recovery of the Assistant Commissioner has brought relief to his family, the administration, and the provincial government, which had been under pressure to ensure his release. Further details of the operation leading to his recovery were not immediately shared.
