QUETTA: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Saturday reaffirmed that the peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of Balochistan remain central to the state’s efforts, stressing that a secure environment is essential for sustained development and economic activity in the province.
Field Marshal Munir visited Quetta Garrison, where he interacted with commanders and commanding officers of field formations and received a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing security environment, operational preparedness and measures being undertaken to maintain peace and stability across Balochistan.
The visit came as Pakistan observed Defence and Martyrs’ Day on September 6, with the country commemorating the sacrifices of its armed forces and security personnel.
During the briefing, matters concerning the province’s security situation and ongoing measures to strengthen stability were reviewed. Institutional coordination and support for Balochistan’s socio-economic development were also discussed.
Field Marshal Munir appreciated the high standards of professionalism, operational readiness and selfless commitment demonstrated by the troops deployed across the province. He emphasised the importance of continued coordination among Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and other state institutions to consolidate the gains made in maintaining peace.
The CDF noted that effective coordination between security and civilian institutions remains essential not only for countering security threats but also for creating an environment conducive to sustained economic activity and development.
Security and Development Closely Linked
Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed that a stable and secure Balochistan would help facilitate development initiatives, economic opportunities and improved prospects for the province’s population.
The emphasis on linking security with socio-economic development reflects the broader challenge facing Balochistan, where efforts to maintain peace are closely connected with the province’s economic and social progress.
A secure environment, according to the CDF, provides the foundation for investment, economic activity and development initiatives that can improve opportunities for the people of Balochistan.
The Field Marshal also paid rich tribute to the shuhada who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty and acknowledged the steadfast dedication of officers and troops continuing to serve in challenging operational conditions.
Upon his arrival in Quetta, Field Marshal Munir was received by the Commander Quetta Corps.
The visit and its emphasis on both security preparedness and socio-economic development came against the backdrop of Defence Day, when Pakistan pays tribute to generations of military and security personnel who have served and sacrificed their lives in defence of the country.
For Balochistan, the message carries particular significance as the province continues to confront security challenges while seeking to expand economic activity and development opportunities. The state’s approach, as reiterated during the visit, places peace and stability as prerequisites for the province’s long-term prosperity.
