Eight engineers from Balochistan have embarked on a journey to Argentina as part of the educational development initiative associated with the Reko Diq Project. These engineers, representing diverse regions of Balochistan, will engage in an 18-month international training program known as the International Graduate Development Program.
This initiative, conducted in partnership with Barrick Gold Corporation, will occur at the Veladero Project in Argentina, according to a news release. The program highlights the Reko Diq Mining Company’s dedication to empowering local youth by providing access to high-quality education and professional training.

The objective is to cultivate these young professionals into significant contributors to the nation and to prepare them for crucial roles in the future operations of the Reko Diq Project. This is not the inaugural instance of such an opportunity; during the 2023–24 phase of the same program, two groups consisting of 9 to 10 engineers were previously dispatched to receive practical mining training at Barrick’s facilities in Argentina and Zambia.
During the event, representatives of the Reko Diq Project conveyed their assurance that the hands-on experience provided by this training will enhance the engineers’ skills and comprehension of advanced, internationally acknowledged mining practices.
They emphasized that such initiatives are crucial for aligning Pakistan’s mining workforce with global standards and for preparing them for leadership positions within the industry. The Reko Diq initiative remains a significant achievement in incorporating local talent into the worldwide mining sector, while also fostering the long-term socioeconomic growth of Balochistan.
