Balochistan Apex committee vows crackdown on smuggling and illegal immigration

The Provincial Apex Committee held its 19th meeting under the leadership of Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, with the attendance of senior military and civil officials, including Corps Commander Balochistan, Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem Ahmed Khan. The meeting focused on critical matters of security and public welfare, reaching significant decisions to address ongoing challenges.

A key decision was made to intensify the anti-smuggling campaign, with strict measures to be taken against transport companies involved in such activities, including registering FIRs against drivers. The committee also directed the swift finalization of rules under the Anti-Terrorism Act to ensure effective implementation. It was emphasized that no highways in Balochistan would be blocked under the guise of protests, reaffirming the state’s commitment to safeguarding public rights and ensuring the free movement of ambulances and essential services.

The FIA was instructed to take strong actions against those involved in illegal money transfers, while propaganda against the state was declared intolerable. The Chief Minister stressed that strict measures would be enforced against corruption, smuggling, illegal financial activities, and extortion. Protecting the youth from subversive activities and drug abuse remains a priority, and efforts will focus on ensuring they are not exploited for anti-state purposes.

The Chief Minister clarified that the provincial government would step in to construct highways if the NHA delays or obstructs progress, ensuring no compromise on public welfare. He emphasized the importance of implementing the committee’s decisions to achieve sustainable development and lasting peace in Balochistan.
